As a small business owner in the UK, it’s easy to feel lost or overwhelmed when researching social media – and the fact that the majority of social media marketers and bloggers are from outside of the UK makes it harder to know what works and what doesn’t for UK consumers.
The good news is that there’s a whole host of great social media blogs written by UK social media experts, and so below, we’ve rounded up five of our favourite for you to check out.
Immediate Future
Immediate Future describes themselves as a “hybrid team of multi-disciplinary consultants” who are passionate about social media.
Their blog is jam-packed with content on social media, covering everything from the latest social networks, to optimising your profiles, to finding new ways to generate leads and clients from your Twitter and Facebook accounts.
One thing that sets Immediate Future apart from other social media blogs is their frequency, with the company publishing several blog posts per week on their site.
In the ever-changing world of social media, it’s good to know there’s a UK agency that’s got the time to react to new developments, experiment with new social networks like TikTok, and keep small and medium-sized business owners in the loop with the latest and greatest ways to use social.
Social B
The SocialB Digital Marketing Blog is another great resource for small business owners, as they not only cover social media but digital strategies, search engine optimisation, pay per click, email marketing and more, giving you real bang for your buck.
Their weekly ‘What’s Happening in Digital Marketing This Week’ blog posts are a real treat, as they round up the biggest stories in the world of marketing and pool them together with commentary.
This blog may be a little too technical for beginners, as you’ll need some prior understanding of marketing techniques, but if you’re already giving it ago, it’s a resource to add to your bookmarks.
Just like the last blog, SocialB updates their resource weekly, so you’ll find lots of fresh content to read, and the more you know, the better you’ll become at social media…
University of Surrey
This blog takes a slightly different approach, but it’s worth mentioning nonetheless.
Surrey University has a blog dedicated to social media and shares news and information on how they’re using social media to promote their courses and share important news with students.
It’s really refreshing to see a university be so open and upfront about their digital strategy, and whilst it’s a vital resource for other colleges, universities and schools, all business owners can learn from their teachings and apply Surrey’s strategies to their own social campaigns.
Lilach Bullock
Lilach is well-known for her award-winning marketing blog and offers tonnes of content for small business owners wanting to boost their presence on social media.
Covering everything from increasing website traffic through social media to organising a social media calendar so you don’t forget any important events, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re just starting out in business or you’re an established brand and want to boost lead generations.
Lilach’s blog is great because she accepts content from other authors, which means the site is updated almost every day with something fresh.
Covering all of the major social networks, including LinkedIn, Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, you’ll find some of her posts useful for your small business, and additional tips for SEO, content writing and business development should also come in handy. Bookmark the blog and check back regularly!
